Charlotte Denning walked in the front doors of Huffaker Elementary School with pep in her step and a broad smile, returning to the place that defined her life’s work as she celebrates her 100th birthday this month.
Mrs. Denning taught from 1966 until 1991, spending all but one of those years at Huffaker Elementary. Over those decades, she taught hundreds of students, many of whom went on to become well-known members of the Northern Nevada community. When asked to name a few, she laughed and said the list was simply too long.

The Washoe County School District (WCSD) is expanding its Pre-Kindergarten programming, thanks to funding from the Nevada Department of Education.
